We have a 45-minute podcast episode and want to cut it into maybe 5 short clips for TikTok and Reels. Should we just split it into 5 roughly equal parts?
I'd avoid splitting it into equal parts - that almost always produces clips that open mid-thought and don't make sense without the rest of the episode, which fails the hook window before the edit even starts.
Instead, I'd go back through and find 5 moments that each stand completely on their own - a specific story, a strong claim, a clear turning point - regardless of where they fall in the 45 minutes.
For each one, check that the core point lands in the first few seconds as cut, and add captions on all of them, since a large share of this content gets watched muted.
