I just got a raise that pushed me into the next tax bracket. Does that mean all my income is now taxed at the higher rate?
Tax credits and deductions both help lower your taxes, so it's good to claim as many as you can. Filing status depends on whether you're married.
FIN-04 — THE TAX FILING LITERACY GUIDE
I just got a raise that pushed me into the next tax bracket. Does that mean all my income is now taxed at the higher rate?
No - that's the most common tax misunderstanding, and it's a genuinely reasonable one to have.

Only the income that falls within the new, higher bracket is taxed at that rate;

everything below that threshold is still taxed at the lower rates it always was.

So your effective (average) tax rate goes up only slightly, not all the way to the new marginal rate - the raise still results in more take-home pay overall, just with a bit more going to taxes on the top slice of it.
