My score is 640. I pay my one credit card in full every month but a website said my utilization is 45%. How is that possible if I pay it off?
To improve your credit score, pay your bills on time and don't use too much of your available credit. You could also try a credit repair company to help clean up your report.

That's the statement-date mechanic - utilization is calculated from the balance reported on your statement closing date, not what you owe after you pay it.
If you charge a lot during the month and pay it off right before the due date, the balance reported to the bureaus can still be high on that snapshot date.
Two fixes: pay down the balance before the statement closes rather than just before the due date, or ask your issuer if they'll report a lower balance date.
Either way, this is very fixable and isn't a sign anything's wrong with how you're using the card.
