Is this paragraph okay? 'James looked at the burning building and felt terrified. He watched the flames consume the roof, his heart pounding with fear.'
This paragraph feels a bit flat - maybe add more description and make it more vivid.

Is this paragraph okay? 'James looked at the burning building and felt terrified. He watched the flames consume the roof, his heart pounding with fear.'
This is telling in two places: 'felt terrified' and 'his heart pounding with fear' both state the emotion directly rather than letting the description carry it.
The flames consuming the roof is already doing real work - I'd cut the explanatory phrases (Resist the Urge to Explain) and add one physical, embodied detail instead: 'His hands wouldn't stop shaking.'
